You will be blown away by the Liz Apartments.
First off, this modern, green building was designed by renowned Selldorf Architects, blending comfort with quiet serenity in the middle of one of the most diverse and vibrant urban areas in the country.
Italian style and elegance are displayed in the full kitchen with the use of Miele and Bosch modern appliances, Pietra Cardosa countertops, and custom white lacquer Scavolini cabinets.
The bathroom exhumes sophistication when you observe the Vitreo Italian glass mosaic wall and floor tile. Waterworks fixtures, Glassos countertops, Robern medicine cabinets and rainfall showerheads will spur a sense of tranquility and joy the second you enter.
Immerse yourself in the terracotta hues of the bedroom, which features high floor to ceiling windows, sun-blocking curtains and privacy shades, extremely comfortable memory foam platform beds, all wrapped up in soft Italian sheets.
You’re welcome to start the day in the small, but well-equipped gym, or spend the evening with your significant other having a drink al fresco on the rooftop. If you brought your four-legged companion, give him a treat as you enter the modern lobby, or instead treat him to a shower in the pet room downstairs.
And finally, there’s the location. DC’s 14th Street Corridor is just a happening place. With shops, restaurants, and amazing nightlife for every taste, believe me when I say that you won’t get bored. And the nearest metro station is just 7 minutes walking from the location. Sure, you may have a work meeting, or you may choose to admire the many tourist attractions of the Nation’s Capital, but here is where locals and adopted folk of DC come to play, learn and enjoy. You cannot be more local than this.
I could go on and on to describe this fascinating, beautiful and luxurious abode that you will call home for a short while, but I am biased. Until you experience the Liz for yourself, you will not appreciate my words. You can trust me on that.
Winner of the 2001 American Association of Architects Design Awards, this house was built by renown architect Robert Gurney. It resembles an art gallery, complete with original pieces.
The artworks belonged to Peter Farkas, a lawyer by training, but also an art lover and seasoned photographer. He commissioned the renovation of the house in 1994.
Located on a quiet cul-de-sac within striking distance of Georgetown University, the original property site presented no pleasing views to the street and the shallow backyard sloped up very steeply almost immediately beyond the house. Neighboring houses were located extremely close to the property lines. However, Peter desired a house abundant with glass and light.
The solution was to provide views toward the exterior that were controlled. Windows were strategically located to minimize views of the neighboring houses. A translucent material allowed light into the space while maintaining privacy. The house was
organized around a double height living room intended to magnify scale on the interior and to provide an abundance of light into this and adjacent spaces.
White walls and columned hallways accommodated Peter’s art collection.
This is the space we are now sharing with you. Your stay will be like few you will ever have. The space will overwhelm you with calm and tranquility. The simple geometrical lines of the interior decoration, the indirect lighting, and even the geometrical fixtures, were all chosen at the time of renovation to provide visitors a state of zen and enjoyment.
There is so much to say about this amazing place, but one can only experience the sensation of this abode by staying here. We feel confident that such experience will be as unique as any you will ever have.
